This table can browse both anticodon number and codon usage concurrently. When you consider the correlation of codon usage with anticodon number (i.e., number of tRNA genes having the respective anticodon), you have to pay attention to "wobble pairing" between the codon third position and the anticodon first position. For example, G base at the anticodon first position can pair with either U or C at the codon third position, and thus one anticodon can recognize two codons. U at the anticodon first position can pair with either A or G at the codon third position, and thus the anticodon also can recognize two codons. Furthermore, there exist the cases where the anticodon first position is enzymatically modified resulting in change of the codon recognition pattern. |
